Honda K-Series Billet
Camshafts
The main requirement for an internal
combustion engine to produce horsepower efficiently
is the combination of a very precise
mixture of oxygen and fuel, followed by ignition.
Horsepower and torque is directly
proportional to the rate at which the mixture enters the
combustion chamber. This essentially
means the more mixture that can be introduced into
the cylinder's combustion chamber
the higher the potential horsepower output. To achieve
this airflow must be improved.
On a camshaft, the cam lobe profile
determines the characteristics of the power band of
the camshaft. There are several key
data points that must be focused on in order to properly
design a camshaft that will perform
optimally, those are: duration, lift, velocity, acceleration,
and jerk. By properly developing a
camshaft profile it is possible to generate horsepower
and torque throughout the entire
power band, opposed to commonly available camshaft
profiles that are proven to only
increase horsepower in certain sections of the power band.
Bavarian Solutions billet camshaft
profiles are available for all applications, from forced
induction in the variety of
supercharged setups and turbocharged setups, to naturally
aspirated applications. We also
offer the service of having a custom profile developed for
your exact application to achieve
maximum efficiency.
